PMI Palmetto Chapter
PMP Exam Study Group
The Project Management Professional (PMP) credential is a globally recognized standard of project management expertise.  It is earned by passing a four-hour examination composed of 200 multiple-choice questions that measure your ability to apply knowledge, skills and techniques used in project management. The Project Management Institute (PMI) sponsors the credential which is based on A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK). The exam is developed by groups of individuals from around the globe who hold the PMP credential and is routinely reviewed and revised to ensure the best and consistently objective assessment. Certain education and experience requirements must be met before applying for the exam.

The Palmetto PMI chapter sponsors a  PMP study group which is generally held in the spring and fall. Students from  our  area meet one evening a week for 12 weeks.  The study group is a free service for Palmetto PMI chapter members.
Each weekly meeting covers 1 chapter  of the PMBoK :
-        Understanding PMBoK and the PMP exam
-        Project Management Framework
-        Integration Management
-        Scope Management
-        Time Management
-        Cost Management
-        Quality Management
-        Human Resource Management
-        Communications Management
-        Risk Management
-        Procurement Management
-        Professional Responsibility

When the study group begins, the students /groups of students  each choose the topic(s) that they will "lead". It is recommended that students chose a topic where they have less understanding, as preparation to lead the discussion is a proven learning technique.

Thu, 02 Jul 2009 11:49:39 -0700 Upcoming ISSA Chapter Meeting - July 17th - Tokenless Two-Factor Authentication http://gsatc.posterous.com/upcoming-issa-chapter-meeting-july-17th-token http://gsatc.posterous.com/upcoming-issa-chapter-meeting-july-17th-token The Upstate Chapter of the ISSA meets on July 17th. See below:

Upcoming Chapter Meeting - July 17th, 11:15AM to 12:30PM

* PRESENTATION: Tokenless Two-Factor Authentication

For most companies, information security is a top priority. Demand for
protecting data and employee confidentiality is only continuing to grow,
especially in industries that require a regulatory-compliant environment.
However, applying user names and passwords for authentication is
insufficient.  While two-factor authentication is an effective security
solution, traditional token-based systems have been difficult to implement
and administer, leading to limited adoption.

Please join PhoneFactor’s Greg Valenstein to lead a discussion,
presentation and demonstration about Two-Factor Authentication.

* Door prizes to include a $100 Best Buy gift card from PhoneFactor and
other items!
* Bootable Live DVD versions of the latest beta version of BackTrack will
be made available to attendees.
* Boxed lunches from Jersey Mike's will be provided at a nominal cost of
$10 per person. If you'd like to eat lunch with us, please make sure to
RSVP to webmaster@upstate-issa.org at least 24 hours prior to the meeting
and mention you would like lunch ordered. Lunch may be paid for in either
cash or check on the Chapter meeting.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

AGENDA - July 17th, 2008 - 11:15AM to 12:30PM

11:15 - 11:25 Lunch/Networking
11:25 - 11:30 Introductions/Announcements
11:30 - 12:25 Presentation

The XML Datatype and Object Serialization

Chris Clark will be giving the first presentation at the next meeting of the GSP Developers' Guild on Tuesday Feb. 17th. This presentation will walk developers through a sample application that makes use of some of the new technologies in the .NET developer's toolbox including Linq-to-SQL, Linq-to-entities, and the xml data type in SQL Server 2005 and 2008. Throughout the application there is an emphasis on exploring object serialization. After seeing some of the serialization techniques in action, we will discuss some of their caveats and performance implications.

Bio: Chris Clark is a .NET developer with Blackbaud in Charleston, SC. He works primarily in ASP.NET and Visual Basic, building online content management systems for the nonprofit world. He has four years of experience developing with Microsoft technologies and graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Computer Science.

Debugging

I will do a short presentation on debugging. As well as covering some philosophical aspects of "Bugs", this mini presentation will show some debugging tips and some general use of debugging tools in Visual Studio.

Schedule

  • 6:30 PM Announcements
  • 6:45 PM Presentations
  • 8:15 PM Prize drawings
